The Safe union has warned it would take 338 workers out on strike if there was no resolution by midnight, having earlier rejected a wider negotiated pay agreement for land-based facilities.
A possible strike would result in the shutdown of Shell’s Nyhamna plant that serves the Ormen Lange gas field in the Norwegian Sea, as well as Statoil’s Hammerfest LNG facility on Melkoya island that serves the Snohvit gas field in the Barents Sea in northern Norway, according to industry association Norwegian Oil & Gas (Norog).
