Nostrum saw a loss of $95 million in 2015, compared to a profit of $146 million year-on-year, “primarily as a result of a $101 million deferred income tax charge related to the devaluation of the Kazakh tenge versus the US dollar”.
The UK player also saw declining revenues in the period to $449 million, compared to $782 million in 2014. This is, in part, due to unexpected repair work on the Intergas Central Asia-operated export gas pipeline, which Nostrum uses to transport its gas, that led to a below targeted production.
