Speaking on the final day of the 21st World Petroleum Congress in Moscow, Novak made an unveiled attempt to deflect blame onto the US and other unnamed European countries for the prevailing tensions between Russia and the European Commission regarding gas supply issues.
Novak insisted Russia's goal is to increase energy stability in the region by building new gas export pipelines to Europe, and he has criticised calls for diversification of energy supplies to European countries.
