NZOG said the near 600-square kilometre survey that began in PEP 53473 on 4 April was expected to take up to 20 days to complete. However, generally fine weather and few marine mammal encounters meant the shoot was completed ahead of schedule.
The shoot was conducted by WesternGeco’s seismic survey vessel Western Monarch, which then moved to start a 300-square kilometre survey on the Taranga permit, PEP 52593, in the early hours of Monday morning.
