The Labour Court of Araraquara decided that the construction company, already involved in a giant corruption scandal in the country, was due to pay the fine as working and living conditions at the ethanol refinery were unsatisfactory.
The work involved in the Angola ethanol refinery project was carried out by an Angolan company in which Odebrecht has an indirect minority stake, Reuters said.
