Odfjell's semi-submersible rig Deepsea Atlantic will be used under a three-year contract to drill production wells at the field, while it was also handed a four-year contract to provide platform drilling services on the Johan Sverdrup drilling platform.
The rig contract is valued at $330 million during the firm three-year period, giving a relatively low dayrate of only about $301,000, but carries options for six extensions of six months each that are estimated to add a further $370 million to $470 million if exercised.
