According to the US Department of Justice, the executive, Roberto Enrique Rincon Fernandez, began paying bribes and "other things of value" to PDVSA purchasing analysts in exchange for placement on Venezuelan national oil company's bidding panels, enabling Rincon's US-based companies to win "lucrative" contracts.
The names of the four companies controlled by Rincon and implicated in the case were not disclosed in an indictment filed in US District Court in December.
