Iranian authorities said they received “the first wave of proposals by major international companies” since President Hassan Rouhani approved the new format for oil contracts.

The new contracts come in support of the country’s efforts to mobilise foreign investment. 

“Ten companies including big European firms such as Total, Lukoil, Shell, Eni, OMV and Asian giants like China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Sinopec and Pertamina have so far submitted their proposals to Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum for the development of 15 projects,” the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) said.
