About 700 barrels of oil found its way into the sea from the west of Shetland facility following a technical issuewith a production separation system on Sunday.
In its latest update issued on Tuesday afternoon UK time, BP said all data showed the spill was continuing to move in a northerly direction away from land.
Eight surveillance flights have so far been deployed to monitor the release.
