Azeri state energy company Socar was quoted as saying on Friday that part of the platform's living quarters fell into the sea after getting hit by waves during a heavy storm.
Local reports said the accident occurred at a platform in the Oil Rocks field.
"The accident did not affect the oil production process," Reuters quoted a Socar spokesman as saying.
A search-and-rescue operation is underway, with a helicopter and three vessels reportedly deployed.
