OMV is looking to use either a traditional ship-shaped FPSO being studied by Aker or Sevan’s trademark cylindrical design, with the studies set to be completed by year-end, the operator’s head of well engineering design for North-West Europe, Dag Breivik, revealed at an Oslo seminar on Thursday.
Aker has also developed an FPSO concept for Statoil's Johan Castberg field farther south in the Barents, for which a cylindrical solution was earlier dropped.
