The fire broke out on a newbuild liquefied petroleum gas carrier under construction at the Okpo shipyard in Geoje, South Korea, according to local reports cited by Upstream's sister publication TradeWinds.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported one worker died and seven others were injured.
The fire was extinguished after an hour, reports said.
When the fire started, the victims were in a tank with about 130 people, Yonhap reported.
