The US-based joint venture of Schlumberger and Cameron is carrying out the manpower cutbacks as a result of a shrinking order backlog and dearth of new contracts, president of processing systems Mads Andersen told local publication Bergens Tidende.
The brunt of the cuts will be felt at its Askoy and Sandsli locations near Bergen in west Norway, with 200 employed in fabrication work at Askoy and another 600 staff working in projects, engineering and administration at Sandsli out of the company’s total local workforce of 900.
