The blowout from well number 60 on the field in Changlang district is now under control, the Press Trust of India reported.
"The engineers and experts from ONGC in Assam's Sivsagar district ultimately managed to stop the gas leakage at around 12pm (local time) on Sunday," the PTI report claimed, quoting senior police officials in the area.
The gas blowout occurred on 30 June, leading to panic among the local residents.
