The state-owned explorer is considering either partnering with or completely buying-out block MB-OSN-2005/2 held by Adani since 2005, according to reports from the Mint newspaper.
The newspaper cited two officials from ONGC on condition of anonymity saying that a deal could be signed before the end of the current fiscal year.
The reports did not comment on a possible deal value.
Neither ONGC nor Adani were available for immediate comment when contacted by Upstream.
