The Amungee NW-1 well was drilled to a total depth of 2611 metres and well partner Falcon Oil & Gas said preliminary evaluation of the exploration well confirmed a more than 500-metre gross interval shale gas sequence had been hit, with net pay of over 150 metres.
It added gas shows were encountered from at least two prospective shale sweet spots within the Middle Velkerri formation.
