State-run giant Sinopec, which also holds a 25% stake in the Queensland project, is slated to take 7.6 million tonnes per annum of LNG over a 20-year period after the project starts up later this year.
However, speculation has grown that Sinopec might struggle to take delivery of the gas amid sliding demand in China and reported delays to the construction of its import terminal in the country's southern Guangxi province.
