Riverstone and Barclays Natural Resource Investments are to sink $200 million each into the new Norwegian-registered company, while Singapore-based investors Temasek will contribute an additional $125 million.
The founding management team for the new Stavanger-based explorer includes former Agora Oil & Gas chairman Andrew Armour,chief executive Svein Ilebekk and subsurface advisor Timothy Sullivan.
Norwegian junior Agora Oil & Gas was acquired by UK independent Cairn Energy under a $453 million deal in 2012.
