Otway basin hole is dry
Origin Energy has plugged and abandoned as a dry hole the Banganna-1 onshore gas exploration well in the Otway basin, Victoria, Australia.
The well reached total depth of 2125 metres on Saturday, 15 February.
Wireline logs were run and no significant hydrocarbons were encountered in the target Laira formation and Pretty Hill sandstone reservoirs.
Banganna-1 is located in permit PEP 159 and is 15 kilometres north of the Victorian coastal township of Port Fairy and five kilometres east of the township of Orford.
50:50 partners in PEP 159 are operator Origin Energy and Essential Petroleum.
