The US player has reportedly already asked the ministry in mid-October for permission to divest its interest in the project and is currently awaiting approval. If permission is granted, Oxy’s interest in the oilfield will be sold off to Iraq's state-run South Oil Company(SOC), according to Reuters.
The ministry is in the process of approving the request, the news wire said.
