Canadian junior Oyster Oil & Gas has kicked off the next stage of exploration over its acreage in Djibouti after receiving governmental approval.

The Vancouver-based explorer was granted approval on 1 March to move to phase three of exploration under its production sharing contract, covering a quartet of blocks in the East African nation.

The third phase has a three-year duration and will stretch out until the end of February 2020.

A year ago the company started gathering 3350 line kilometres of high-density airborne gravity and magnetic data over southern Djibouti.
