The AEMO predicted a gas surplus in four years’ time and, as such, the operator saw no need for CSG projects in NSW or a gas pipeline from Northern Territory to deliver volumes to Australia’s east coast domestic customers.

However, Australia’s east coast actually faces a potential gas shortage of 133 petajoules by 2019, not least because the AEMO underestimated the amount of feedstock needed for Queensland’s LNG projects, claimed EnergyQuest.
