Icon revealed Friday the two companies had agreed to extend the completion date for the gas sales agreement until 30 June 2018.
The pair originally signed the agreement in 2011 which will see Icon supply 40 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas to Shantou over a 20-year perod.
The gas will come from Icon's operations in Australia's Cooper-Eromanga basin and be shipped to Shantour's US$727 million receiving terminal and regasification facility on Nan’ao Island near Shantou, China.
