The Argentine player began operations at 1:30 am local time on Sunday 30 October, chief executive Richard Spies told Upstream.
The spud had originally been planned for earlier in the month but was delayed several times.
The probe is being drilled by the jack-up COSL Hunter and will aim to determine the lateral extension of Pemex's Hokchi discovery. The site is about 27 kilometres off the port of Dos Bocas in the state of Tabasco.
