Multiple sources have hinted at Papa's involvement in Centennial, which recently saw a substantial investment from private equity player Riverstone Holdings. However, Upstream has not been able to independently confirm what role the former head of one of the US' most successful shale companies is playing at Centennial.
According to a Reuters report on Tuesday, Silver Run Acquisition - a so-called special purpose acquisition company, or Spac, founded by Papa - has taken a stake in Centennial, which holds about 42,500 acres in the emerging Delaware sub-basin, covering stretches of New Mexico and south-west Texas.
