Papua New Guinea 'to grow LNG industry'

Speaking at LNG18 in Perth, Micah said the presence in the country of major companies like ExxonMobil, Total, Repsol, Oil Search and others was "a vote of confidence in our investment settings".

The fiscal regime was good, which included incentives during project construction; labour costs were lower then elsewhere; and the country's geographic location was close to Asian LNG markets.

New LNG developments in the pipeline were the expansion of ExxonMobil's PNG LNG project and Total's greenfield Papua LNG project.
