The Mexican state oil company has approved asking the nation's energy secretariat for permission to take on partners in the pair of fields, a new ability it gained during reforms to open the country's oil sector.
The fields are in a water depth of 160 metres and offer a possible resource of 281 million barrels of oil equivalent.
That includes 46 million proven, 77 million probable and 158 million possible.
