The implementing of laws for the sweeping anti-corruption reform will create a co-ordinated National Corruption System set to unify anti-graft efforts across government agencies and other such organisations. It will also have citizen representation.
It will also authorise the country's Superior Audit Office to investigate use of federal funds, whether in the central government or that disbursed to states.
"I am convinced that this system opens the door to a new era in public service, which is a historic step in favour of a culture of legality and to put an end to impunity," Pena Nieto said in a statement.
