Aker said the $465 million contract would start within the fourth quarter of 2016 and also carries a five-year extension option.
Monday's announcement confirms reports in Upstream in July that Aker was on the verge of signing the charter deal for Aker Wayfarer for operations off Brazil.
The vessel will be adapted to become a deep-water subsea equipment support vessel, with outfitting work to be carried out at a Norwegian yard.
