The state-controlled company reported late on Friday that well 3-SES-175D, known informally as Muriu-1, had confirmed a 24-metre thick reservoir with “good permo-porosity characteristics”.
The well lies in 2432 metres of water in Petrobras’ wholly-owned BM-SEAL-10 concession, about 83 kilometres from the city of Aracaju in north-east Brazil.
It is located 4.4 kilometres from the Muriu discovery well, where “excellent quality” light oil was found in a 67-metre pay zone in December last year.
