According to Petrobras general manager for the Santos basin, Eduardo Garcia, the company has been able to cut the time needed to drill through the salt canopy by 49% and the time to complete a pre-salt well by 62% over the past five years.
Garcia told an audience at the Rio Oil & Gas conference that Petrobras has drilled 194 wells in the pre-salt fairway to date, of which 110 were exploration and 84 development.
