Petrofac said Friday it had terminated its contract with ZPMC for the construction of the proprietary design Petrofac JSD 6000 deep-water multi-purpose vessel due to “issues” with yard's performance in relation to construction of the vessel.
"It is regrettable that it has become necessary for us to take this decision, and the board is now reviewing its options,” Petrofac chief executive Ayman Asfari said.
ZPMC was awarded the contract for the Petrofac JSD 6000 last year and was expected to deliver the vessel in 2017.
It was to come equipped with a J-lay tower, two deep-water winches, S-Lay tensioners, 5000-tonne revolving main crane and four deck cranes, as well as pipe handling equipment.
