The first find was made offshore Sarawak in Malaysia in Block SK320, which is operated by Abu Dhabi’s Mudadala Petroleum. Petronas holds a 25% stake in the block.

Petronas said on Thursday that the Pegaga-1 well, located about 250 kilometres north-west of Bintulu, was drilled to a total depth of 2029 metres and hit a 247-metre gas coloum.

The well flowed gas to the surface and pressure data indicated the possibility of a substantial gas column still not yet penetrated.
