The permit already contains three deep-water gas discoveries called Kelidang, Keratau and Kempas, which opened up a new deep-water gas play in the area.
The new well - called Keratau SW – was drilled in the fourth quarter of 2015 and had “found commercial hydrocarbons in line with pre-drill estimates”, said joint venture partner Murphy Oil.
The prospect had pre-drill potential of 62 million barrels of oil equivalent.
