No reason was provided for the sudden departure of 53-year-old Nguyen, but local media reported there may be a connection to the Ocean Commercial Joint Stock Bank, which has suffered financial losses and was previoulsy led by Nguyen.
He will be given new responsibilities within the Ministry of Industry & Trade, according to PetroVietnam.
