Venture Global has officially launched the federal regulatory process for its proposed  $8.5 billion liquefied natural gas export facility in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.

The US liquefaction player said Wednesday it had completed the preliminary review process and has submitted a formal application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to build the planned 20-million-tonnes-per-annum facility.

The application includes a request to authorise a proposed pipeline system to supply the facility with feed gas.
