Local reports, citing a spokesman for Premier, said the company had flown all non-essential personnel - estimated at around 50 people - from the platform on Wednesday evening.
According to the Evening Express, Premier confirmed that "for welfare reasons, the decision has been made to temporarily downman a number of non-essential personnel" from the Balmoral facility.
"This precautionary measure is due to a temporarily reduced lifeboat capacity on-board the installation," the newspaper quoted Premier as saying in a statement.
