The LS23-1-1 well well was drilled to a depth of 8747 feet on Block 33/07 and hit 46 feet of net pay over several gas bearing sandstones.

While Primeline said the find was technically a discovery, it was not likely to be deemed commercial and the decision was made to plug and abandon the well.

The company will now turn its attention to the LS30-3-1 well which lies roughly 20 kilometres north of the LS36-1 gas field platform and will target a large channel sand prospect.

It will use the same rig used at LS23-1-1, the self-elevating jack-up HYSY941, to drill the LS30-3-1 well.
