The Thisit-01 probe was spudded in Block ATP 769P by Ensign’s 959 drilling rig a fortnight ago.

Australia-listed well partner WestSide said on Tuesday that the drilling contractor ran into hole instability issues at a depth of about 924 metres. As a result, the joint venture agreed to abandon the well before its planned total depth of 1500 metres.

Thisit-01, located about 18 kilometres north-west of the Queensland town of Moura, was designed to intersect the Permian age Baralaba coal measures.
