Joint venture partner Carnarvon Petroleum revealed the jack-up Noble Tom Prosser was expected to start drilling the Roc-1 well in WA-437-P once it wrapped up operations at the Wandoo oilfield with Vermillion Energy.

It had previously been reported that drilling on Roc-1 was scheduled to start this month, however Carnarvon said the newbuild rig, which left Singapore on Friday, would arrive in Dampier between 19 and 21 September before heading to the Wandoo field.

Vemillion had originally postponed its two-well campaign at the shallow-water field, but last month changed its mind in order to avoid the penalties related to cancelling the rig contract and avoid the summer cyclone season.
