Chief executive Arild Myrvoll will quit with immediate effect after a scheduled general meeting of Rem shareholders on 10 October to approve the pending merger, according to the company.
A proposed debt restructuring at Rem was voted down earlier this year by Aker in its role as a bondholder. Aker instead engineered the fusion with Solstad, in which it is a controlling shareholder.
