Well partner Oil Search revealed the Strickland-2 wildcat had been plugged and abandoned after the Darai limestone was found to be water bearing.
The well was drilled to test for hydrocarbons in the Darai limestone reservoir within a four-way dip closed anticlinal trap.
Oil Search added in its drilling report on Thursday the drilling rig had already been moved and spudded the next well in the campaign, Strickland-1, which will test the deeper Toro formation sandstone reservoir.
