The Madrid-based giant labelled the $5.5 billion claim laid by Addax Petroleum UK Limited and Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration & Production Corporation against Talisman Energy Inc and Talisman Colombia Holdco Limited as "baseless".
The claim relates to the investment in joint venture TSEUK by Addax and Sinopec in 2012, when a 49% stake was bought from Talisman, then a Canadian independent before Repsol completed its $13 billion takeover last year.
