Spanish energy giant Repsol has waved the white flag on the Strickland-1 exploration prospect in Papua New Guinea, having spudded the well nearly six months ago.
The Strickland-1 well spudded on 16 June in the Highlands region of Western Province, and was targeting a large early-cretaceous Toro sandstone reservoir.
A number of difficulties arose during the operation, forcing at least three sidetracks and stuck pipe events.
