Well partner AWE revealed Tuesday the QK12-3-1D well had reached a total depth of 3600 metres and intersected good stacked reservoirs in all three targets but failed to find any signs of hydrocarbons.
Logging operations have been completed and the joint venture will now plug and abandon the well.
It was the second well in a two-well campaign which also included last year's QK11-1-1 well which was drilled about 15 kilometres from Roc's existing Zhao Dong producing complex but was deemed non-commercial.
