Private equity-backed Neptune Energy has awarded Rosenberg Worley the contracts for modifications on the Gjoa semi-submersible platform in the North Sea.

The engineering, procurement, construction, installation & commissioning contracts, with an undisclosed value, were awarded under the existing Gjoa topsides modification frame agreement signed with the unit of the Australian contractor last year.

At the time, Rosenberg WorleyParsons - as it was known before WorleyParsons changed name to Worley - secured the Neptune contract to fabricate and install a new topsides module on the Gjoa field platform to cater for the subsea tie-back of Wintershall’s Nova satellite find off Norway.

Neptune said on Tuesday that the extended EPCIC contracts will cover topsides modifications to be carried out on the platform as part of the Duva and Gjoa P1 projects.

“We are pleased to award these contracts to Rosenberg WorleyParsons under the existing frame agreement,” Neptune’s Norge’s managing director Odin Estensen said.

“This work is important in order to maintain the fast-track schedule for developing Duva and Gjoa P1 as subsea tie-backs to Gjoa.

"The project demonstrates our commitment to pursuing growth opportunities and further strengthens Gjoa’s position as a hub for the wider area,” Estensen said.

The recent modification contracts will last until 2021 and the services will be led and executed by Rosenberg Worley in Stavanger.

Meanwhile, fabrication of the module, which will provide gas lift and water injection for pressure support at Nova, started in November with installation to be carried out in the first half of 2020 ahead of scheduled start-up at Nova in 2021.

The 800-tonne module is due to be installed with a heavy-lift vessel from Heerema Marine Contractors.
