One person died as a direct result of the blast on the Verkhnechonsk field, which was reported late on Wednesday.
However, in a statement in Russian sent to Upstream on Thursday, field operator Rosneft confirmed that a further two workers died as a result of their injuries.
Four others were injured after sustaining burns of varying severity, the Moscow-based oil giant said.
