Under the agreement, Saipem and Novatek will explore opportunities for "mutual co-operation regarding the execution of Novatek's future LNG projects", Saipem said in a statement.
The aim of the agreement is to "strengthen and develop strategic partnership and co-operation between the two companies in all spheres of mutual interest", the company added.
"We will leverage our distinctive competences in high-end projects, and in particular in LNG, and our proven operational experience in Russia to support Novatek's business objectives," said Saipem chief executive Stefano Cao.
