A production outage at the Sakhalin 2 liquefied natural gas project off Russia’s far east coast was caused was a compressor motor problem, with repairs still ongoing.

Output was affected at the Sakhalin Energy-operated project following what was at the time described as a technical glitch in late January.

The operator of the project, which includes partners Gazprom and Shell, has been relatively coy on the cause of the incident at one of the onshore processing plants or the precise impact on production.
