The well is being drilled by the semi-submersible rig Ocean General to a planned depth of about 2050 metres subsea. The water depth is 460 metres.
Bedug-1 is targeting oil and gas pay in the Upper Miocene and Lower Pliocene channel sands on the crest of the Bedug structure.
The well is located four kilometres east and up-dip of the South Kecapi-1 ST exploration well, which was completed at the start of February as a discovery after hitting 40 metres of net oil and gas pay in stacked Pliocene channel sandstones.
